Jufri Salim has been a dedicated member of the Singapore Democratic Party (SDP) since starting as a changemaker in 2006.
In 2009, Jufri was elected Vice-President of the party's youth wing, The Young Democrats. He then served as Head of The Young Democrats from 2013 to 2023, stepping down to foster new leadership. Additionally, he was elected to the Central Executive Committee (CEC) in 2013 and currently holds the position of Organising Secretary.
As Organising Secretary, Jufri has been instrumental in planning and preparing the party's major events. Notably, he was the stage manager for SDP rallies during the 2015 General Elections, the 2016 Bukit Batok By-elections, and virtual rallies during the 2020 COVID pandemic.
In 2015, Jufri took on the role of International Liaison, representing the party in Exco meetings, attending various overseas conferences and workshops with international politicians and activists to exchange ideas and strategies.
Jufri is also actively involved in community outreach, regularly participating in walkabouts and house visits in constituencies such as Marsiling-Yew Tee and Sembawang GRC to connect with residents and address local concerns.
Beyond his political commitments, Jufri is engaged in Singapore's arts and music scene. He is a songwriter, music producer, and performing artist. With his wife (and SDP colleague, Party Treasurer, Surayah Akbar), he performs in their band, Kraton. Together, they have produced two albums and six singles. They have a dozen songs played on commercial radio and toured throughout Indonesia and Singapore.
Jufri and Surayah also manage Kraton Music Publishing & Arts, contributing to the local music and creative industry.
