Dr Paul Tambyah

Dr. Paul Anantharajah Tambyah is a distinguished Singaporean infectious diseases physician, academic, and political leader. He serves as the Chairman of the Singapore Democratic Party, a position he has held since September 2017.

Dr. Tambyah is a Professor of Medicine at the National University of Singapore's Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and a Senior Consultant in Infectious Diseases at the National University Health System. He has held prominent roles in international medical organisations, including serving as the President of the Asia Pacific Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infection and as the immediate past President of the International Society for Infectious Diseases.

His medical career is complemented by his commitment to public service and human rights. Prior to joining the SDP, Dr. Tambyah was a founding member of MARUAH, a Singaporean human rights organisation. He chose to join the SDP because its values aligned closely with his own views on social justice and democratic governance.
